Dr. Cihanoğlu received her B.S. degree in psychology (1997) and M.S. degree in clinical psychology (2000) from Middle East Technical University Department of Psychology, Turkey. She completed her PhD study in developmental psychology at Ege University Department of Psychology in 2009. From 1999 through 2005, she was employed as a psychologist at several private and governmental institutions. In the years 2005-2020, she worked as a faculty member at Atılım University Department of Psychology. Since July 2020, she is an independent researcher and trainer. Her research interests include suggestibility of children’s memories, children’s rights, child abuse and neglect, developmental psychopathology, children and trauma, and refugee children. She has been working in Child and Adolescent Unit of Turkish Psychological Association (TPA) and is currently an Executive Board member (2018-2020). She is also the TPA representative at the Executive Committee of Partnership Network for Preventing Violence against the Child.
