ECCE 2019 is an international platform for networking among all the participants of the educational process: academicians from 45 countries and 80 regions of Russia, practitioners and policymakers. Discussions and scientific presentations will be held in the framework of the breakout sessions and round table discussions on the 25 most pressing topics of early childhood care and education.
ECCE 2019 Partner-Country: Turkey
A delegation of scholars and practicing educators from Turkey will take part in the ECCE conference. Turkish specialists have devoted many years to the study and formulation of ethical norms in child mental health practices. All psychological research is governed by ethical principles but the preschool age has the most complex specificity, which requires great attention of specialists and at the same time, arouses deep interest of the international psychological community. The Vice Chair of the Turkish Psychological Association, Ilkiz Altinoglu Dikmeer, a well-known researcher in the field of Clinical Child & Adolescent Psychology, will present her report on ethical considerations in child mental health practices.
UNESCO projects at ECCE business program
The most important ECCE 2019 topic is cooperation between Russia and UNESCO in the field of preschool education. Since 2018, the event takes place under the patronage of UNESCO and the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO. Grigory Ordzhonikidze, Commission Secretary-General, became a member of the ECCE Organizing Committee. For the first time, one of the breakout sessions will be dedicated to the UNESCO associated Schools Project Network (ASPNet), designed to help spreading the organization’s goals. The project is widespread throughout the world and integrates more than 9,000 organizations in 180 countries.
Due to the recently reached agreements between the Chairman of the ECCE Organizing Committee Nikolay Veraksa and the National Coordinator of the UNESCO ASPNet in the Russian Federation Nela Pruss, in 2019–2020, the number of associated schools will increase due to the preschool organizations participating in the ECCE conference. Previously, the preschool unit in the project was presented extremely limited.
Separately, the conference will discuss the work of the UNESCO Chairs based on Russian universities. More recently, in 2018, the UNESCO Chair was opened on the basis of the organizer of the ECCE conference, the International Pedagogical Academy of Preschool Education, Moscow.
