Gordana Buljan Flander is a psychologist and psychotherapist, working as a director of the Child and Youth Protection Center of Zagreb. She has been working with children for over 30 years and was among first professionals in Croatia who recognized the importance of the issue of child abuse and neglect. In 1997 she founded the helpline for abused and neglected children, and in 2002 initiated foundation of the Child Protection Center of Zagreb, the only health care institution specialized in working with traumatized children in Croatia. Among many acknowledgements, the most significant is that of ISPCAN in 2008 for Center´s multidisciplinary team. Besides working directly with children and families, she is active in the scientific field, with 7 books and many scientific papers regarding child development, parenting and child trauma. She works as a lecturer on many Universities and is court expert for psychology, doing trainings in domestic, regional and international settings, interested in sharing her experiences with other professionals in Croatia and worldwide.
